Joana Adimila, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, has not allowed her circumstances to hinder her pursuit of education. After being away from formal learning for over a decade, she engaged in a 12-week training program offered by the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), fully immersing herself in the learning experience.
Ms. Adimila primarily relied on her jewellery business for income. Despite facing numerous challenges, she continuously sought new opportunities to advance her career. “Experiencing what it’s like to be a student again after years at home was refreshing,” she expressed. “I’m grateful for the opportunities APTC provided, which allowed me to explore potential areas.”
On Wednesday, she celebrated her graduation, earning a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways with a focus on welding and fabrication. Acknowledging the male-dominated nature of the field, she emphasized the need for more women in engineering professions.
Transitioning from running a small business to exploring new career paths has been a difficult journey for her. “I am ready with my newly acquired knowledge because I want to have a better future,” she affirmed.
