From Stay-at-Home Mom to Engineering Graduate: Joana’s Inspiring Journey

Joana Adimila, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, has successfully pursued her educational ambitions despite her circumstances. After more than ten years away from formal education, she engaged in a 12-week training program offered by the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).

While managing her jewellery business, which served as her primary source of income, Ms. Adimila actively sought out new opportunities. “Experiencing what it’s like to be a student again after years at home was refreshing,” she remarked, expressing gratitude for the chances APTC provided to explore new potential career paths.

On Wednesday, she celebrated her graduation with a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, specializing in welding and fabrication. Although she acknowledged the challenges of entering a male-dominated industry, she emphasized the importance of increasing female representation in engineering fields.

Transitioning from entrepreneurship to alternative career options has not been easy, she noted, but she feels prepared with her new skills as she aspires to build a better future.
