Joana Adimila, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, has not allowed her circumstances to hinder her educational aspirations. After more than ten years away from formal education, she fully engaged in a 12-week training program offered by the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).
Ms. Adimila primarily relied on her jewellery business for income. Despite facing significant challenges, she continuously sought new opportunities for growth. “Experiencing what it’s like to be a student again after years at home was refreshing,” she remarked. “I’m grateful for the opportunities APTC provided, which allowed me to explore potential areas.”
On Wednesday, she celebrated her graduation with a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, specializing in welding and fabrication. Although entering a traditionally male-dominated field presents its own set of challenges, she emphasized the importance of increasing female representation in engineering.
Transitioning from her small business to new career paths has not been easy, but she is determined. “I am ready with my newly acquired knowledge because I want to have a better future,” she expressed.
