From Schoolboy to Bati: Jordan Miller’s Journey in Rugby League

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller, who visited Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, has made an unexpected return as part of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team two years later. This experience marks a significant milestone in his rugby league journey.

Miller, a towering prop with Australian roots and a father from Savusavu, expressed his excitement about training alongside senior players and NRL athletes he idolized growing up. Among them are notable players like Tui Kamikamica from the Storm, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau.

He conveyed his gratitude to coach Waisake Kativerata for selecting him to make his debut for the Bati, starting from the bench in the competition.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he remarked. “At just 19, training with these esteemed players feels surreal to me. I never expected this opportunity to come so soon, but I am thankful to be here. It means a lot.”

Miller noted the positive team culture he has experienced during the past week, highlighting the twice-daily devotion sessions and the vibrant energy throughout the camp.

Earlier this year, he signed a three-year deal with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, helping the Tigers secure an 18-10 victory. Last September, he was recognized at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s Junior Representative Award night as the player’s player and the best and fairest player.
