Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller made headlines when he returned to Fiji with the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, two years after his first visit with the Australian schoolboys in 2022. This remarkable transition marks a significant milestone in his rugby league journey.
Miller, a towering prop raised in Australia with a father from Savusavu, expressed his excitement about training with senior players, including NRL stars like Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau. He expressed gratitude to coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity to make his debut with the Bati, starting from the bench.
“I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” Miller stated, reflecting on his surreal experience training alongside established players. “I didn’t think it would come this early, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to come here. It means a lot.”
Over the past week, Miller has embraced the team culture, noting the positive environment within the camp, which includes daily devotion sessions. “Everything’s good – we have devotion twice a day. There’s a lot of energy, so the camp’s never down; it’s a fun camp to be in.”
Earlier this year, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, contributing to the team’s 18-10 victory. Notably, he was awarded the player’s player and recognized as the best and fairest player at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during the Junior Representative Award night in September 2022.
