From School to Scrum: A Partnership That Inspires Rugby Future

Nilesh Singh, founder of Niltech Consulting, celebrated a significant milestone in his company’s partnership with the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) when he coordinated a visit from six Queensland Reds players to his former school, Suva Grammar. As a proud alumnus of Suva Grammar, Singh was excited to link the international rugby team with the institution where his passion for the sport was nurtured.

The visit took place in May 2024 during the Reds’ trip to Suva for a match against the Fijian Drua, marking a pivotal moment in Niltech’s budding collaboration with the QRU, which had only started three months earlier. Following this successful engagement, Singh announced that the partnership with the Reds has been extended for an additional year.

As part of this agreement, Niltech Consulting’s logo will continue to appear on both the team’s playing and training shorts, as well as on the Queensland sevens squad. Singh expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “The partnership has surpassed all expectations. We are very pleased, and long may it continue,” while reflecting on the collaboration’s initial months.

The sponsorship has proven beneficial for Niltech Consulting, a digital transformation firm with locations in Brisbane, Malaysia, and plans to open a hub in East Timor. Singh noted that the visibility gained during the Reds’ significant victory over the Crusaders showcased the effectiveness of the partnership.

For Singh, the connection extends beyond business; it encompasses personal relationships and mutual respect. During the players’ visit to Suva Grammar, six athletes showed up instead of the planned three, leaving a lasting impact on students from the first XV to the under-15s. He expressed confidence that some of these young players may become future stars of Super Rugby Pacific.

Highlights of the visit included Reds prop Peni Ravai offering advice to the First XV prop, alongside teammates Seru Uru, Suliasi Vunivalu, and Hunter Paisami, who engaged actively with the students. Singh emphasized that their partnership is committed to supporting rugby development in both Australia and Fiji while inspiring the next generation of players.
