Manaini Lesavua, a 32-year-old mother from Nawaka, Nadi, celebrated a significant personal achievement as she graduated with a Trade Diploma in Baking and Patisserie from the Fiji National University (FNU) College of Humanities. This emotional milestone came amid reflections on her mother’s sacrifices in funding her education while caring for four young children.

Lesavua was among approximately 200 graduates from the FNU College of Humanities and Education, marking a day of pride and remembrance held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. Holding her three children tightly, she shared the difficulties she faced balancing motherhood with her studies, expressing deep gratitude towards her supportive family.

During her graduation speech, she acknowledged her mother’s unwavering support, who worked hard to finance her education as a private student. Lesavua also expressed appreciation for her husband’s contributions, particularly after the birth of their second child, allowing her to focus on her studies.

Now employed as a security officer, Lesavua remains ambitious, with plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in tourism. She urged younger generations to remain resilient in the face of challenges, emphasizing that perseverance can lead to success.

Lesavua’s uplifting journey serves as an inspiring reminder that with determination, support, and hard work, it is possible to achieve one’s dreams, no matter the obstacles faced along the way. Her story encourages others who may be struggling to stay hopeful, keeping in mind that the sky truly is the limit when it comes to aspirations and goals.
