From Rookie to Rising Star: Jordan Miller’s Dream Come True with Fiji Bati

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller, who visited Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, is now back in the country as part of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, marking a significant milestone in his rugby league career.

Miller, a towering prop originally from Australia with familial ties to Savusavu, expressed his excitement about training alongside senior and NRL players he grew up idolizing, including Storm’s Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau. He thanked coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity that led to his debut with the Bati, where he started from the bench.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he shared. “Training with these boys in camp still feels surreal to me—it’s amazing to be with all the big names. I didn’t think this would happen so early, but I’m grateful for the chance.”

Miller also highlighted the positive team culture he experienced over the past week, noting the high energy during camp, which includes devotion sessions twice a day.

This year, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, with the Tigers securing an 18-10 victory. In September 2022, he earned several awards, including the player’s player and best and fairest at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during their Junior Representative Award night.
