From Rookie to Bati: Jordan Miller’s Incredible Fiji Journey

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller’s journey in rugby league has taken an exciting turn as he joins the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, two years after his initial visit to Fiji with the Australian schoolboys.

Miller, a towering prop, has Australian roots, with his father hailing from Savusavu. He expressed that playing alongside senior Bati players and those from the NRL, whom he admired growing up, is a dream come true. Notable players he mentions include Tui Kamikamica from the Storm, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau.

He extended his gratitude to coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity to make his debut with the Bati, starting from the bench. “I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” Miller shared. “At just 19, joining these renowned players feels surreal.”

Reflecting on his experience, he noted the vibrant team culture. “We have devotion twice a day, and there’s a lot of energy, so the camp is always lively and enjoyable.”

Miller recently signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, contributing to their 18-10 victory. He also received accolades as the player’s player and best and fairest at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s in September 2022 during their Junior Representative Award night.
