Shyna Lata, a 21-year-old from Labasa, has dedicated herself to raising awareness about the serious issues of drug use and unemployment, particularly after observing their impact on families in Narere, Nasinu. As a recent graduate from FNU, Lata emphasizes the importance of education in addressing problems related to drug abuse and unemployment among youth.
Lata is one of seven contestants competing for the title of Miss Nasinu Festival 2024, an event supported by Playland Fantasy Amusement Rides. She advocates for government initiatives aimed at assisting young individuals who are homeless or facing drug-related challenges.
“Hailing from a community marked as a red zone, I have witnessed that many of our youth are either school dropouts or involved in drugs,” she stated.
The Miss Nasinu Festival will take place over a week, wrapping up on Saturday at the Valelevu grounds.
