Yolanda Krystel Goundar, a determined 35-year-old, recently achieved notable recognition by receiving a Trophy of Excellence for her Post-Graduate Diploma in Midwifery. She was among 35 students to earn this distinguished accolade, a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Juggling her studies with the responsibilities of motherhood has posed significant challenges for Ms. Goundar. However, the steadfast support from her family has been instrumental in her success. She expressed immense gratitude for her family and friends, who provided moral encouragement during her most trying times.

Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Goundar emphasized the critical role her family played in assisting with her children during her exam preparation and study periods. With a long-standing passion for caring for newborns, her experiences collaborating with skilled healthcare professionals further enriched her understanding of midwifery. She noted, “I learned the importance of caring not just for the babies, but also for the mothers. That’s what kept me motivated to continue my studies.”

Currently, she serves as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. Ms. Goundar attributed her perseverance to her faith, encouraging others to “Trust God and never lose faith in him.”
