From Motherhood to a Degree: A Journey of Perseverance and Pride

After a four-year hiatus dedicated to raising her two children, Maria Adimainatuvu experienced immense joy during her graduation from the University of the South Pacific yesterday.

Filled with emotion, Ms. Adimainatuvu proudly accepted her Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality Management, marking the beginning of her envisioned career in the tourism sector.

“Completing this degree has greatly enhanced my self-esteem and provided me with a deep sense of achievement,” she stated.

She acknowledged the challenges of being away from her studies for an extended period while caring for her family, but deemed the experience rewarding. “There were numerous obstacles, but I persisted to ensure a brighter future for my children,” she reflected.

Ms. Adimainatuvu believes her success lays a strong foundation for her children, emphasizing the value of education, determination, and personal growth.

Balancing academic demands with familial duties has sharpened her problem-solving abilities and adaptability.

Firmly grounded in her family values, Ms. Adimainatuvu experiences a profound sense of pride and respect, which contributes to a nurturing home atmosphere.

At 27 and hailing from Kaba Village in Tailevu, she is confident that with the unwavering support of her peers, friends, and family, she will continue to achieve her goals.

“Nothing is impossible. This will not be my last graduation; I am determined to pursue the next level,” she declared.
