Roneel Ritesh Ram, a 36-year-old entrepreneur, is successfully living his dream in the bakery industry. After launching his business two years ago, he is determined to create a prosperous future for his children. The inspiration to start his bakery came from a personal loss; he lost his mother when he was just five years old.
Hailing from Navovo, Nadroga, Mr. Ram runs La Panaderia & Cafe located in the Field 40 Subdivision of Lautoka. His journey into baking began in 2008 when he became an apprentice at Lums Hot Bread in Sigatoka. Over the years, he gained valuable experience working at several bakeries including Deans Tabraki in Nausori, Bread Box in Navua, Bake Rite at 8 miles, Wananavu Bakery at Sonaisali Junction, and New World IGA Lautoka.
“I had this dream for a long time: to have my own business rather than work for someone else,” Mr. Ram stated. He also established his business as a birthday gift for his daughter, driven by a desire to spare his children from the struggles he faced during his upbringing.
Investing $25,000 from his savings, Mr. Ram currently operates the bakery without employees, choosing to run the business as a family affair alongside his loved ones.
Despite facing challenges, including a robbery at his shop and difficulties posed by newcomers in the area, Mr. Ram remains resolute. He is also known for his support of local football teams wherever he goes. A graduate of Naidovi Primary School and Cuvu College, he married Arishma Prasad in 2017, and together they have two children. Mr. Ram emphasizes the importance of hard work in achieving success.
