Nilesh Karan, a seasoned loan officer at the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), is embarking on a new journey as a legal practitioner after recently graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Fiji. The 47-year-old father of two has amassed 19 years of experience with SCGF and has previously held positions in various law firms and financial institutions.
Karan’s decision to study law stemmed from his background in the legal sector, where he gained valuable experience in civil and litigation matters. Balancing his studies, work commitments, and family responsibilities was no small feat, taking him seven years to complete his law degree as a working student. He credit his success to effective time management and support from his family, particularly his wife, children, and friends, who provided encouragement during his educational pursuit.
Reflecting on his experiences, Karan highlighted the importance of planning, dedication, and structure in managing his busy life. His ability to create a flexible schedule not only allowed him to meet his educational goals but also demonstrated SCGF’s commitment to fostering employee growth and development.
Looking ahead, Karan plans to enroll in a postgraduate program and aims to be admitted to the bar. His story serves as an inspiration, showing that determination and support can lead to significant personal and professional achievements.
This transition represents not only a new chapter for Karan, but also a testament to the potential for growth and success that comes with persistence and a well-structured approach to challenges.
