Nilesh Karan, 47, who has served as the senior loan officer for the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), is transitioning to a new phase in his career as a legal practitioner. Karan recently graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Fiji, a milestone he achieved after seven years of hard work while balancing his studies with family and his career.
His decision to study law stems from his previous experience in the legal field, where he worked on civil and litigation matters. Karan has built an extensive career, having worked with various law firms across Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi, as well as holding a position at the Housing Authority. He joined SCGF nearly two decades ago, initially taking on the role of a senior credit officer at Carpenter Finance in Lautoka before his long tenure at SCGF.
Reflecting on his journey, Karan noted that time management was paramount in juggling his responsibilities. He devised a flexible schedule to ensure he could attend lectures, complete his studies, and fulfill his work obligations. He emphasized the importance of support from his family and friends throughout this challenging process. Karan expressed immense gratitude to his wife, children, and loved ones for their encouragement during his educational pursuit.
