Nilesh Karan, the senior loan officer of the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), is set to embark on a new journey in his career as a legal practitioner after recently earning his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Fiji. At 47 years old, Karan completed his law studies, a significant accomplishment that took seven years while balancing his responsibilities as a working student and a father of two.
Karan’s decision to study law stemmed from his extensive experience in the legal field, notably in civil and litigation matters. He has contributed to various law firms in Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi, as well as working with the Housing Authority. Before his long tenure at SCGF, Karan served as a senior credit officer with Carpenter Finance in Lautoka.
Reflecting on his educational journey, Karan emphasized the importance of time management and careful planning. He created a flexible schedule that allowed him to allocate time for lectures, study sessions, and work duties. He shared that these efforts were essential to keep his family, studies, and professional commitments balanced, particularly during demanding periods such as exams.
