Nilesh Karan, a senior loan officer at the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), is embarking on a new career path as a legal practitioner after recently graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Fiji. At 47 years old, Karan brings valuable experience from his previous roles in law firms across Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi, as well as his tenure as a senior credit officer with Carpenter Finance in Lautoka.
Karan’s decision to pursue a law degree was influenced by his background in the legal sector, particularly in civil and litigation matters. His commitment to education was evident as he balanced his studies with family and work responsibilities, a journey that took him seven years to complete. Throughout this process, Karan learned important life lessons about time management and dedication.
He shared that effectively managing his time required careful planning and a structured approach to ensure he could dedicate enough attention to work, studies, and family life. With the support of his wife, children, family, and friends, he successfully navigated the challenges of being a working student.
Moving forward, Karan plans to enroll in a postgraduate program and aims to be admitted to the bar. His journey highlights the importance of perseverance, support from loved ones, and the commitment to personal and professional growth.
