Meli Tuni, a prop forward for Fijian Drua, has faced a challenging season in the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, having participated in only 22 minutes of play due to injuries. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old from Tailevu finds motivation in his family, highlighting their support as a crucial factor in his recovery.

“Family is most important, seeing them being there and supporting gives me more time to actually focus on coming back,” Tuni stated, emphasizing that their encouragement was the primary reason for his return to play.

As he aims to regain match fitness, Tuni ended the year positively by making his debut for the Flying Fijians. He is determined to secure more playing time in the upcoming season while focusing on personal growth. “I want to play more games next season. I also want to be a better person than I have been. There are many things in the past I could have changed, and next year that is one of my main goals.”

Despite the obstacles he’s faced, Tuni’s resolve to improve both on and off the field is noteworthy. His determination not only reflects his commitment to the sport but also his desire for personal development, signaling a hopeful outlook for his future in rugby.
