From Humble Beginnings to Semi-Final Showdown: Natabua High’s Rugby Dream

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to refine their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This update comes from head coach Inoke Vucago following their decisive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

“We were eliminated in the quarter-finals last year, and this season we are determined to go further,” Vucago stated. He emphasized the importance of focusing on one game at a time, noting the players’ solid preparations leading into the quarter-final.

Vucago encouraged the team to increase their scoring after leading 17-0 at halftime. He pointed out that many players have experience from competing in the Marama Championship with clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has equipped them for the 40-minute game format.

He stressed the necessity for improved performance in the upcoming semi-final, expressing pride in the team’s hard work and commitment to their game plan. “They showed a strong desire to win,” he added.

Vucago also dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. He highlighted the forwards as the team’s biggest strength, praising their dominance while also noting the effectiveness of a balanced backline.
