Moiz Chaudhary, a dedicated father of two and primary school teacher from Sigatoka, achieved a significant milestone by graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Fiji National University (FNU) on Tuesday. This distinguished event, however, was deeply bittersweet for Mr. Chaudhary, as it came shortly after the loss of his father, who passed away due to a heart complication following a difficult medical journey to India.
“I took him overseas hoping for a miracle,” Mr. Chaudhary recounted with emotion. “We got there, but it was too late.” Despite the painful timing of his achievement, he was honored with a medal for academic excellence, a surprise that underscored his hard work and determination.
The motivation behind his success can be traced back to the unwavering support from his parents, particularly his late father. “They believed in me more than I believed in myself at times,” he shared, dedicating his medal to his father with the heartfelt remark, “This medal is for them – especially for Dad.”
Currently on study leave from his position at Sigatoka Methodist Primary School, Mr. Chaudhary is furthering his education by pursuing a Master’s in Research at FNU, a journey he shares with his wife, who is also a student there. “We push each other,” he said with a smile, highlighting the challenges of balancing studies with parenting two young children—a two-year-old son and a seven-month-old daughter.
The resilience required to balance work, family life, and studies has tested him. “There were days I’d come home exhausted, only to stay up writing assignments after putting the kids to bed,” he revealed. Nevertheless, he views this chaotic period as “beautiful chaos” and credits a robust support system from family, colleagues, and the academic staff at FNU as pivotal to his success.
Looking ahead, Mr. Chaudhary sees this achievement as just the beginning of his journey. “I want to reach the pinnacle for my family, for my students,” he stated, inspiring future students with the belief that anything is possible. His motivational words for aspiring students are: “Study hard, dream big, and believe in yourself. FNU gave me the tools – the rest is heart.”
This uplifting story demonstrates how education can empower individuals and reminds us that perseverance, coupled with a strong support network, can lead to remarkable achievements. Mr. Chaudhary’s dedication not only honors his father’s legacy but also paves the way for a brighter future for himself and his family.
