Michael Joe is making a significant return to the business scene. Having transitioned from farmer and grocer to landlord, he is now stepping into the role of property developer. He recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a $6 million project in the capital, following the closure of his well-known supermarket, Joe’s Farm.
The ceremony took place in Samabula, where Tui Suva, Sanaila Madanavosa, praised Joe for his entrepreneurial spirit. The first of many buildings associated with Joe’s Farm is currently under construction on Ratu Mara Road, with plans for a three-storey complex to be completed by December next year.
Joe is recognized for his ability to adapt and innovate within the business landscape. He has worn many hats throughout his career, functioning as a farmer, golfer, exporter, grocer, business consultant, investor, and more. He has established a joint venture with Cibus New Zealand aimed at exporting locally sourced produce from various farms across the nation.
In addition, he is collaborating with the government to create contracts for local farmers. One of Joe’s upcoming business ventures is set to bear fruit this month as he prepares to export coconuts and dalo from Rotuma, marking a significant first for the island. A truck will travel throughout Rotuma to collect these products for export, with the initial shipment destined for New Zealand.
According to Mr. Joe, the cornerstone of his success is straightforward: a strong faith in the Lord.
