Adi Viniana Tuirewa has triumphantly graduated from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), earning her Certificate III in Individual Support (Aging) despite facing significant family separation challenges. The 35-year-old mother of three relocated from her hometown of Levuka, Ovalau, to Suva for her six-month course, with her husband Alipate Bolalevu Bukalidi and their children cheering her on at the graduation ceremony held at the Suva Civic Auditorium.

Ms. Tuirewa described her journey as immensely challenging, emphasizing, “Returning to school with kids and a family and completing the course in six months was not an easy journey.” Despite enduring the difficulties of separation from their family during her studies, she managed to return home on weekends, underlining the sacrifices necessary for her education.

Drawing inspiration from the support of both her husband’s family and her own in Taveuni, Ms. Tuirewa credited them for her success. She shared a powerful message for other women contemplating further education, stating, “There are no barriers at all. If you’re willing to go for it, then you will achieve what you have in mind.”

Ms. Tuirewa was among 137 graduates who completed courses in various fields, including engineering pathways, carpentry, and tourism, showcasing the diverse opportunities available for personal and professional growth through education.

This story resonates with similar accounts of resilience where women have overcome obstacles to further their education, illustrating the crucial role of family support, determination, and sacrifice in achieving one’s goals. Ms. Tuirewa’s journey, like those of other inspiring graduates, underscores the transformative power of education and the belief that challenges can be met with strength and perseverance.

As she embarks on her next chapter, Ms. Tuirewa serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging others to pursue their dreams, regardless of obstacles.
