Achieving success goes beyond formal education, as conveyed by businessman Taniela Rararua. He carries an empowering message for school dropouts and struggling youths, emphasizing that everyone possesses unique skills and talents bestowed by God. It is crucial for individuals to harness these gifts through self-discipline to benefit themselves and society.

Taniela hails from Rakiraki on Kadavu Island and has emerged as a successful self-made entrepreneur specializing in coffin design and manufacturing from his home in Kalokolevu Village, located along the busy Queen’s Highway. His journey has not been easy, particularly as he grew up in a single-parent household after his father left, leaving his mother as the primary provider. Faced with financial hardships, he made the difficult decision to leave school just before his final exams to help support his family.

After enduring tough times, Taniela received a second chance for education at Montfort Boys Town, a vocational institution run by the Catholic Church. There, he learned essential values such as time management and self-discipline that have shaped his work ethic as a business owner.

Taniela’s career path is diverse; he worked for Pacific Green, a furniture company, before joining the Fiji Corrections Service. His experience in the corrections system led him to contemplate starting his own coffin manufacturing business. After spending a decade in corrections and another nine years working as a security guard, he began laying the groundwork for his venture, accumulating tools and saving funds.

His first coffin took three days to complete without electrical equipment, showcasing his dedication and craftsmanship. As his client base expanded, so did his ability to reinvest in his business, improving the quality of his products. He has also begun teaching his children the skills needed to carry on the family trade, fostering a legacy of craftsmanship.

Taniela’s choice to enter the coffin manufacturing industry stems from his belief that death is a universal experience, ensuring a steady demand for his products. He aims to provide quality caskets and reliable transportation options at reasonable prices for those navigating the difficult experience of funeral arrangements.

Driven by faith, Taniela encourages the youth to identify their passions and prioritize their spiritual lives, underscoring that true success comes from aligning one’s heart with divine guidance.

This story not only illustrates the resilience of an individual but also serves as inspiration for many who have faced adversities. Taniela’s journey emphasizes that with hard work, dedication, and faith, it is possible to overcome challenges and achieve personal success, encouraging others to seek their own paths to fulfillment.
