Eka Boila, a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) officer, has made significant strides in her career, with a glowing example of how passion and hard work can lead to professional success. At just 32 years old, she has become one of the longest-serving employees at Rentokil Initial Fiji since she joined in 2017. Originally from Buretu in Nakelo, Tailevu, Boila has risen to the role of senior hygiene technician through her unwavering commitment and determination.

Her journey toward a career dedicated to workplace safety began as a young girl when she observed the efforts of city workers during a notable event in 2006. Inspired by their work, she communicated her dreams to her supportive family, who encouraged her aspirations. “Seeing the SCC workers in action sparked my curiosity and passion,” she shared, highlighting the importance of parental support in fostering her ambitions.

Before joining Rentokil, Boila started as a housekeeper at the Raffles Gateway Hotel and worked as a waitress in Suva. Her breakthrough came when an acquaintance inspired her to apply for a position at Rentokil. Just two months later, she received the call to join their team and has been thriving ever since.

Boila expresses gratitude towards her colleagues and the management team at Rentokil, describing her work environment as a second home. “Whatever you do, you should do it with passion. If it’s not done from the heart, it’s pointless,” she emphasizes, underscoring her belief that enthusiasm is vital in any job.

With her sights set on continued professional and personal growth at Rentokil over the next decade, Boila encourages others searching for employment to believe in themselves and to maintain faith in their aspirations. “Have faith in yourself and, most importantly, pray for your aspirations if you wish to see it come to fruition,” she advises.

Parallel to her story is that of Elenoa Suvewa Ratudradra, a food and beverage supervisor at Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. Ratudradra’s career journey reflects similar themes of perseverance and support—she overcame challenges, including those brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, to rise through the ranks, embodying resilience and hope for those in her field.

Both Eka Boila and Elenoa Ratudradra serve as inspiring figures in their industries, reminding us that dedication and support from one another can lead to remarkable achievements, reinforcing the importance of community spirit in the workforce.
