From Dreams to Reality: Young Aussie Star Makes His Mark with Fiji Bati

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller, who traveled to Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, is set to return as a member of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team two years later, marking a significant milestone in his rugby league journey.

Born and raised in Australia, Miller has ties to Fiji through his father, who hails from Savusavu. He expressed excitement about training alongside Bati’s senior players and NRL stars he has admired, including Tui Kamikamica from the Storm, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau.

Miller is thankful to coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity to debut for the Bati, beginning his journey from the bench. “I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he shared, reflecting on how it feels surreal to be training with such prominent figures in the sport. “It’s pretty crazy that I’m training with them. I didn’t think it would come this early, but I’m grateful for the chance.”

Over the past week, Miller has absorbed a great deal from the team’s culture. “Everything’s good – we have devotion twice a day. There’s a lot of energy, so the camp’s never down; it’s a fun camp to be in.”

Additionally, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers this year and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, where his team emerged victorious with a score of 18-10. He was also recognized as the players’ player and received the best and fairest player award at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during the Junior Representative Award night in September 2022.
