Roneel Ritesh Ram, a 36-year-old bakery owner, is living out his dream in the baking industry. After embarking on this journey two years ago, he has continued to strive towards building a successful future for his children. The inspiration for his venture came from a deeply personal experience—losing his mother when he was just five years old.
Hailing from Navovo, Nadroga, Mr. Ram operates La Panaderia & Cafe, located in the Field 40 Subdivision of Lautoka. His journey into baking began in earnest when he became an apprentice at Lums Hot Bread in Sigatoka in 2008. Over the years, he has gained valuable experience at several bakeries, including Deans Tabraki in Nausori, Bread Box in Navua, Bake Rite at 8 miles, Wananavu Bakery at the Sonaisali Junction, and New World IGA Lautoka.
“I had this dream for a long time: to have my own business rather than work for someone else,” Mr. Ram stated. He dedicated the establishment of his bakery to his daughter’s birthday, motivated by a desire for his children to avoid the struggles he faced growing up before discovering his passion for baking. Mr. Ram invested $25,000 from his savings accumulated from previous employment. Currently, he runs this family business without any additional employees, collaborating with his family in the day-to-day operations.
Despite his devotion, Mr. Ram has encountered challenges, such as dealing with a robbery and facing problems with newcomers in the area. He remains optimistic and is an enthusiastic supporter of local football wherever he goes. A graduate from Naidovi Primary School and Cuvu College, Mr. Ram married Arishma Prasad in 2017, and together they have two children. He firmly believes that hard work is irreplaceable in the path to success.
This inspiring story highlights not just the spirit of entrepreneurship but also the determination of a father who aspires to build a brighter future for his family. Many can draw motivation from Mr. Ram’s journey, underscoring the importance of passion, perseverance, and family support in pursuing one’s dreams.
