From Cyberbullying to Advocacy: One Young Woman’s Mission for Change

Salaseini Seruvatu, a victim of cyberbullying, aims to utilize the Vodafone Nasinu Festival as a platform for advocacy and change. The 19-year-old, who represents Nadera and is sponsored by Ozone Electrical, plans to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and cyberbullying on families and youth.

“My personal experience with cyberbullying, alongside witnessing the drug abuse challenges in Nadera, has inspired me to take action,” Ms. Seruvatu stated.

As a student at the University of the South Pacific, she intends to collaborate with non-governmental organizations to develop awareness campaigns and offer counseling and legal assistance, creating safe spaces and support systems for victims.

“By cultivating a compassionate and supportive community, we can help reduce stigma and empower individuals to seek help without fear. As I pursue my aspirations of becoming a strong advocate for community issues, this journey will be crucial in shaping me into a more effective and empathetic leader.”

Ms. Seruvatu is among seven contestants competing for the main crown, with the festival set to take place from August 17 to August 24.
