Darsh Prakash, an 18-year-old student from Jai Narayan College, has been named the 2024 dux, a recognition he attributes to a steady learning approach and the immense support from his teachers and peers.
Reflecting on his success, Darsh stated, “Having the right attitude towards learning and surrounded by excellent teachers were significant factors in my achievement.” His academic journey began in Year Nine in 2020, under the pressure of high expectations from his family and educators. Although he never specifically aimed for the dux award, it was a possibility that lingered in his thoughts.
Darsh explained that he maintained his usual effort in his studies rather than exerting more pressure on himself for the award. As a student focusing on pure science, he encountered challenging subjects and rigorous competition. “Consistency was vital. Despite facing tough subjects, I concentrated on my studies and was lucky to have teachers who were always ready to help,” he noted.
Despite the challenges posed by a shortened academic year, Darsh adapted his routine to ensure he remained on track, managing his time effectively to navigate these obstacles. He expressed gratitude towards his teachers and friends for their support, stating, “Winning this top prize is exhilarating, and I appreciate everyone who helped me reach this milestone.”
His father, Inesh Prakash, expressed surprise and joy at Darsh’s success. “I didn’t expect him to win the dux award this morning when he left for school. It truly feels like a blessing,” he remarked, voicing immense appreciation for the school’s role in developing his son’s talents.
Looking ahead, Darsh plans to pursue a career in medicine, inspired by the same dedication and gratitude that characterized his school experience.
