Starting her educational journey in 1990 at the Frank Hilton School for students with disabilities, Lata faced numerous challenges due to a physical deformity in her arms. Despite enduring bullying and the psychological toll it took, she never lost her determination. “Growing up in a poor family, I recognized the transformative power of education,” she reflected, emphasizing that her graduation marked a life-changing milestone.
After receiving her secondary education at DAV College in Nabua, Lata pursued a diploma in business management at the Fiji Institute of Technology, graduating in 2005. Her early career began as a spare parts clerk, but with a thirst for growth, she transitioned into an accounts clerk role. Inspired by her father’s work ethic, she went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in accounting from FNU, successfully juggling work and study commitments.
In 2018, Lata joined the JP Bayly Trust, where her hard work and dedication led to her promotion as General Manager in April 2024, a moment filled with emotion as she expressed gratitude toward her mentors and family. “I was in tears when the announcement was made,” she shared.
