Shelly Tokalauvere, a 22-year-old from Sawaieke Village in Gau, has achieved her Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Finance from the Fiji National University. As she reflects on her educational journey, Ms. Tokalauvere recalls the difficulties she faced in leaving her family behind to pursue higher education but emphasizes that the experience has been worthwhile.
“Dressing in this graduation gown reminds me of the obstacles I’ve overcome. I am extremely proud and want to encourage other students to work diligently so they can feel this sense of achievement too,” she stated.
In dedicating her success to her loved ones, especially her father, Ms. Tokalauvere acknowledged the unwavering support and motivation he provided during her studies. “My dad was the first person I called during challenging times when I considered giving up. He always reminded me of my initial motivations and encouraged me to persevere.”
