Nilshika Singh is a remarkable young woman known for her beauty and intelligence. Born in Sigatoka, she has achieved several personal milestones, including success in beauty pageants and Taekwondo competitions in both Thailand and Fiji.
Growing up as an only child in a middle-class family, Singh’s parents provided her with the essentials needed for her development, shaping her into the person she is today. Reflecting on her upbringing, she stated, “I never felt like anything was missing because my parents gave me everything I ever needed to grow into who I am today.” However, she expressed sadness that her mother is not present to share in her successes.
Singh’s academic journey started at Nadi Sangam School, where she studied from 2004 to 2011, followed by Sangam SKM College from 2012 to 2015. She has always aspired to inspire others, stating, “As a little kid, I had many ambitions but my main goal in life was to become an inspiration to others so they could believe in themselves.”
Her determination is palpable as she describes herself as a hardworking and driven individual, unafraid to tackle challenges. Singh has participated in various local and international beauty pageants, gaining recognition for her work and representing her small island nation on a global scale.
In 2017, she began her pageantry career in Fiji, earning titles such as first runner-up and charity queen and participating in the Miss India Fiji pageant. She demonstrated her elegance at the Sugar Festival in Lautoka in 2018 and ventured into Sydney’s pageant scene in 2023, securing titles like Most Charming and Best Evening Gown at Miss Multicultural Global Australia. Singh was crowned Mrs M Universe Australia by national director Rox Molavin from RGEM Productions and Promotions, later winning the Mrs M Universe International title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Winning these titles brought her immense pride and a sense of accomplishment, as she described the experience as a mix of excitement and disbelief. Beyond her achievements in beauty contests, Singh is a passionate advocate for women in a male-dominated field. Holding a black belt in Taekwondo, she is dedicated to breaking gender barriers in the sport.
Recently, Singh was invited by Mrs M Universe Thailand to compete in a Taekwondo event in Bangkok, making her comeback after five years without training. She took part in training sessions with teams worldwide and was honored to be the chief guest, delivering a speech at the opening ceremony.
Looking ahead, Singh envisions herself as a head coach in either pageantry or Taekwondo, aiming to train students to compete internationally, thereby making her country proud. Currently, she works as a lead educator at Milestones Early Learning Centre in Australia, where she enjoys watching children develop and acquire new knowledge.
She encourages the youth to pursue their talents and passions unreservedly, while also urging parents to support their children in exploring their abilities. Singh’s journey, as a permanent resident of Australia, serves as an inspiring testament to the younger generation, emphasizing that one cannot fully realize their potential without commitment and determination.
