Qenika Ravula’s inspiring journey to graduation can be traced back to his faith, specifically a powerful verse from the Book of Philippians: “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” This conviction has helped him overcome his disability and achieve remarkable success.
At the Pacific Polytech graduation ceremony held at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, Mr. Ravula was among the 51 graduates, proudly accepting his National Certificate in Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three. The 20-year-old, who hails from Vuinaqalutu Village in Macuata, shared a touching moment as he walked up to the stage, shedding tears of joy while receiving his certificate from Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga.
Mr. Ravula has battled with kyphosis for over a decade, a spinal disorder that has affected his physical appearance and social interactions. Despite this challenge, he draws strength from his faith and the support of his family, notably his mother, who has been a pillar throughout his academic journey.
After completing Year 12 at Ahmadiyya Muslim College, he pursued a Certificate in Agriculture at Naleba Youth Training Centre, eventually becoming the first in his family to attain a trade certificate in electrical fitting. His family relies heavily on his mother’s agricultural efforts and assistance from the Social Welfare Department to make ends meet, as he has two siblings in primary school, two in secondary school, and two who are married.
With determination, Mr. Ravula seized the opportunity to enroll in a five-month course under the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme. He expressed profound gratitude towards his mother for her unwavering support and to God for granting him strength.
In his message to young people, he emphasized the importance of resilience: “Never give up, find strength in God and not in drugs or crime. There are no shortcuts in life.” His story serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating that with hard work and faith, anyone can overcome their obstacles and achieve their dreams.
In summary, Qenika Ravula’s graduation stands not just as a personal triumph but as a testament to perseverance and the power of faith in overcoming life’s challenges. His encouragement for youth to make wise choices and trust in God resonates as a promising message for the future.
