Freshet ‘et International Pte Ltd has expanded its presence by inaugurating its sixth outlet at the Laqere Market in Nasinu. The new butcher shop, named Super Butcher, officially opened yesterday, marking a significant milestone for the company as it aims to cater to the meat and seafood needs of the local low to middle-income community.

According to Richard Chow, the managing director, the decision to open in Nasinu has been in consideration for some time. The company recently launched an outlet in Nausori and is also looking to expand further into Nadi and Lautoka. Super Butcher offers a variety of products, including pork, beef, lamb, poultry, and frozen fish, ensuring a diverse selection for customers.

Chow emphasized their reliance on importing a significant portion of their meat and seafood to address local shortages. He noted that while local pork is challenging to source in sufficient quantities, the company imports extensive amounts from Australia to meet demand. Additionally, due to occasional fish shortages, the business sources products from international markets, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and even China. The same applies to lamb and poultry, especially during the festive season when supplies run low.

The establishment of the new facility required an investment of $100,000 and will provide employment for nine full-time staff. Felix Magnus, the acting chief executive officer and board chairman of Nasinu Town Council, highlighted the positive impact of the new butcher shop on the community, stating that it would provide residents with access to fresh and quality meat supplies. He expressed hope for further expansion of Freshet in response to the growing demand in the area surrounding Laqere Market.

This expansion reflects both the company’s commitment to meet customer needs and the economic vitality of the region, creating jobs and enhancing food accessibility in Nasinu.
