Around 10 individuals sustained injuries this morning in a minibus accident at Centrepoint. The vehicle, which was traveling the Suva to Nausori route, reportedly lost control while heading towards Suva and veered off the road, crashing into a car park owned by Vinod Patel.

Video footage circulating on social media captured the aftermath, showing injured passengers trying to exit the minibus while nearby bystanders rushed to assist them. In addition to the injuries, the minibus collided with parked vehicles, causing extensive damage.

This incident is reminiscent of other recent accidents involving passenger vehicles in Fiji, which highlight ongoing concerns about road safety. For example, three passengers were left hospitalized following a similar incident in which a Pacific Transport bus veered off the road in Sigatoka. In that case, the bus driver was released, while three passengers required more extensive medical care.

Authorities, including police and traffic officials, emphasize the critical need for enhanced road safety measures. As investigations into these incidents continue, there is hope that increased awareness among drivers can lead to improved safety standards across public service vehicles (PSVs), ultimately fostering safer travel experiences for everyone.

Community members and officials alike remain optimistic that such events will encourage a more committed approach to road safety, helping to prevent future accidents and protect all road users.
