The New England Free Jacks have announced the signing of Fijian Drua prop Jone Koroiduadua. The club confirmed this news in a statement released last Friday. They noted that Koroiduadua is expected to significantly strengthen their front row as they look to build upon recent achievements and perform well in Major League Rugby (MLR).
At just 25 years old, Koroiduadua hails from Nalebaleba in Nadroga, and has been with the Drua since their inaugural season in 2022, following a two-year stint at Clermont in the French Top 14. He was also part of the Drua squad in 2019.
The Free Jacks emphasized Koroiduadua’s potential, describing him as one of Fiji’s most promising young talents who will contribute a high level of power and physicality to their front row. He has already made over 20 appearances for the Fijian Drua over three seasons in Super Rugby Pacific and has represented the Flying Fijians twice, including participation in the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Koroiduadua also has experience competing for Nadroga in the Skipper Cup and has previously played for the national Under-20 team. The club highlighted his ability as a formidable scrummager on both sides, which was crucial to the performance of the quality Fijian Drua scrum last season. Weighing 255 pounds, Koroiduadua is recognized for his strength and effectiveness in collisions, making him a valuable addition to the Free Jacks’ forward pack.
In addition to Koroiduadua, the Free Jacks have also signed New Zealand lock Sam Caird for the current season.
