The Fiji Revenue Customs Service (FRCS) recently inaugurated its new office in Ba, with the objective of enhancing service delivery and bolstering compliance. The grand opening took place last week, featuring remarks from Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel, who emphasized that this new office represents more than just a physical upgrade.

Minister Immanuel highlighted the impressive progress made by the FRCS in recent years, stating, “FRCS continues to modernize its systems, strengthen its leadership capacity and capability, and enhance compliance frameworks, all within the goal of serving taxpayers more efficiently and fairly.” He continued by underscoring the organization’s commitment to building a transparent, responsive, and performance-driven entity.

Additionally, Minister Immanuel remarked on Fiji’s recent removal from the European Union’s blacklist of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions, attributing this success to the comprehensive reforms spearheaded by the FRCS in tax transparency and international compliance. He expressed gratitude to FRCS for its significant efforts over the past three years, emphasizing that this achievement signals a strong endorsement of the organization’s professionalism and integrity, thereby reinforcing global confidence in Fiji’s tax system.

FRCS Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh stated that the new office aims to better serve the community of Ba and support the region’s economic development. “The opening of the Ba office is not just about any office; it represents teamwork, partnership, and a shared commitment to serving our nation better,” said Singh.

Situated on Level One of the FIFA Building, above the Bank of South Pacific on Lot 1 & 2 Ganga Singh Street, Ba, this new facility is poised to facilitate enhanced interactions between the FRCS and the local population, ultimately contributing to a more robust and efficient tax administration framework within Fiji. The establishment of this office is not only a step towards improved local services but also signifies the FRCS’s adherence to the highest international standards in its operations.
