Suspended schoolteacher Kishore Kumar has been served an amended charge for allegedly posting a video with abusive words toward the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Agni Deo Singh, in 2022.
Mr. Kumar is now charged with unauthorized access to computer systems and causing harm by posting electronic communication.
It is alleged that on December 14, 2021, while at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, Mr. Kumar accessed a Facebook account that did not belong to him. He is accused of using this account to post a video titled “Power In His Voice” on social media, in which he allegedly uttered vulgarities against Mr. Singh, who was the Fiji Teachers Union general secretary at the time.
Mr. Kumar will have his plea recorded at a later date.
Additionally, he faces charges of indecently annoying a person and criminal intimidation for allegedly making indecent claims against Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua.
Magistrate Sufia Hamza has scheduled this matter for August 9 and 16 before Magistrate Seini Puamau.
Mr. Kumar is also charged with breaching his bail conditions and absconding bail, both of which he denies.
Representing himself on all charges, Mr. Kumar is currently out on bail.
