The Suva Magistrate’s Court has postponed the sentencing of former Post Fiji CEO, Anirudha Bansod, to August 7. Bansod appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad, represented by lawyer Devanesh Sharma, while Arieta Vaganalau served as the prosecution lawyer.

Magistrate Prasad requested clarification on several issues, emphasizing the conflict of interest as the central focus. Sharma argued that a fair bid was submitted and any conflict of interest was perceived rather than actual, claiming Bansod was not involved in the tender decision-making process. Vaganalau countered that there was indeed a conflict of interest, stating that Bansod did not disclose his acquaintance with the bidders.

Prasad indicated he would not hasten the sentencing and instructed both parties to present their submissions within seven days before a verdict is reached. Bansod is accused of providing false declarations regarding confidentiality and conflict of interest for the tender of the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application in 2022.
