Former Post Fiji CEO to be Sentenced Tomorrow

Former Post Fiji chief executive officer Anirudha Bansod will be sentenced tomorrow by the Magistrate’s Court in Suva.

He appeared yesterday before Resident Magistrate Talei Kean.

Bansod’s case was scheduled for 9:30am, but he was initially absent, leading to a bench warrant being issued. However, he later appeared with his lawyer Davenesh Sharma, and the bench warrant was subsequently cancelled.

Sharma informed the court that his client had traveled from Lautoka.

The sentencing is set to be delivered at 10am.

Charges

Bansod, who was originally charged with abuse of office and general dishonesty causing a loss, pleaded guilty after the charges were revised to just one count of abuse of office.

It was alleged that between August 1 and December 31, 2022, while serving as the CEO of Post Fiji Ltd, Bansod provided false confidentiality and conflict of interest declarations for a tender related to the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
