Former Post Fiji CEO to be Sentenced for Abuse of Office

The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Post Fiji, Anirudha Bansod, will receive his sentence from the Magistrate’s Court in Suva tomorrow.

Bansod appeared before Resident Magistrate Talei Kean yesterday. Initially, when his case was called at 9:30 am, he was absent, leading the court to issue a bench warrant. However, he later appeared with his lawyer, Davenesh Sharma, and the bench warrant was subsequently canceled. Mr. Sharma informed the court that Bansod had traveled from Lautoka.

The sentencing is scheduled to be delivered at 10 am.

Charges:
Bansod, who faced charges of one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss, pleaded guilty after the charges were amended to include only one count of abuse of office. The allegations stated that between August 1 and December 31, 2022, Bansod, while serving as the CEO of Post Fiji Ltd, submitted a false confidentiality and conflict of interest declaration related to the tender for the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
