Former Post Fiji CEO Faces Sentencing Tomorrow

Former Post Fiji Chief Executive Officer Anirudha Bansod is set to be sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court in Suva tomorrow.

Bansod appeared before Resident Magistrate Talei Kean yesterday. The case was called at 9:30 am, and Bansod was initially not present, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant. However, he later appeared with his counsel, Davenesh Sharma, and the bench warrant was subsequently canceled. Sharma explained that his client had traveled from Lautoka.

The sentencing is scheduled to be delivered at 10 am.

Bansod initially faced charges of one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss. After his charges were amended, he pleaded guilty to one count of abuse of office. It was alleged that between August 1 and December 31, 2022, while serving as the CEO of Post Fiji Ltd, Bansod provided a false confidentiality and conflict of interest declaration for the tender involving the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
