Former Post Fiji CEO Faces Sentencing Tomorrow

Former Post Fiji CEO Anirudha Bansod will be sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court in Suva tomorrow.

He appeared before Resident Magistrate Talei Kean yesterday. Bansod’s case was called at 9:30 AM, and he was initially absent, leading to a bench warrant being issued. However, he later appeared with his counsel Davenesh Sharma, and the bench warrant was subsequently canceled. Mr. Sharma explained that his client had traveled from Lautoka.

The sentencing will be delivered at 10:00 AM.

Charges

Bansod, initially charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss, pleaded guilty after his charges were amended to only one count of abuse of office. Between August 1 and December 31, 2022, while serving as the CEO of Post Fiji Ltd, Bansod allegedly provided a false confidentiality and conflict of interest declaration for the tender related to the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application.
