Two former police officers are facing serious charges related to the illegal importation and possession of 4.7 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine. Sevuloni Lubi, 43, and Ratu Lote Lewaivanua, 31, appeared in the Suva Magistrate’s Court, where they were remanded in custody following their bail hearing.

In a further development, Mr. Lewaivanua has also been accused of possessing $650 on September 12, 2025, which authorities suspect to be proceeds from criminal activity. The case has now been adjourned, with a decision regarding bail set to be made on January 27.

The situation highlights ongoing concerns about drug trafficking and the involvement of individuals in positions of trust. As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains vigilant in addressing crime and ensuring justice.
