Former journalist Charlie Charters faces serious legal trouble as he has been charged with two counts of aiding and abetting an unknown individual concerning the activities of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). The confirmation of these charges has been made by Charters’ attorney, Seforan Fatiaki.

Charters is scheduled to appear in Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon for proceedings related to these allegations. In a troubling account, Charters previously reported an incident at Nadi International Airport where he was allegedly presented with what he described as a “deal” to allow him to proceed with his planned flight to Sydney. He further expressed that he found the terms of this deal unacceptable, stating that it would not be agreeable to “any right-thinking citizen.”

As the case unfolds, more details are anticipated to emerge, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding these charges and the nature of the alleged deal. This situation underscores the growing scrutiny of corruption-related issues in Fiji and the efforts being undertaken by authorities to address them.
