The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has delivered full disclosure of the charges against former Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Commissioner, Salote Panapasa.
Panapasa appeared before Magistrate Krishna Prasad at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday, facing two counts of abuse of office and an alternative charge of general dishonesty causing a loss.
The allegations state that between August 1 and September 30, 2023, Panapasa, while employed as a civil servant in Suva, directed officers to use FCS building materials for her private residence in Kinoya. Additionally, between August 1 and October 31, 2023, Panapasa allegedly instructed a Corrections officer to alter weekly reports to justify the use of these building materials at her home.
During the court proceeding, FICAC lawyer Josann Pene informed the court that the second phase of disclosures had now been served.
The first set of disclosures was presented during Panapasa’s initial court appearance on June 14.
Panapasa is expected to enter her plea on July 26.
Her bail has been extended.
