Former Boxing Commission of Fiji Chairman Explains Vacating Krishnil Mudaliar’s Titles Due to Weight and Fight Pay Issues

Former Chairman of the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF), Dr Subhash Appana, has provided reasons behind the decision to strip Krishnil Mudaliar of his titles. He stated that the titles were vacated primarily due to issues surrounding weight and payment. Despite Mudaliar’s assertions that his titles were revoked without notification, Dr Appana elaborates that both Krishnil and his brother Sachin were struggling to maintain their weight categories.

Dr Appana also claimed that Mudaliar opted to fight overseas instead of defending his title, a choice similar to the one made by Shamal Ram Anuj who relinquished his title in consultation with the BCF.

Mudaliar, having held both the super featherweight and lightweight titles, contends that they were stripped from him during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has denied the allegations of demanding excessive payment for fights. Dr Appana was replaced as chairman of the BCF by Adi Narayan last year.
