Heads of divisions within the Ministry of Forestry have been urged to tackle operational bottlenecks swiftly to ensure uninterrupted services, especially during times of internal transitions. Acting Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry, Saimone Tauvoli, conveyed this message at the ministry’s inaugural Heads of Department meeting.
Tauvoli emphasized that failure to promptly address administrative and operational challenges could hinder the ministry’s ability to provide essential forestry services, including park management, seedling distribution, and asset management. He pointed out that these unresolved issues often lead to implementation delays and poor budget utilization, which can diminish performance outcomes and the ministry’s credibility.
During the meeting, participants discussed the critical need for enhanced coordination among divisions and the importance of following through on action items from previous discussions. Tauvoli underscored that proactive leadership will be essential as the ministry prepares for staffing changes and other internal developments anticipated in 2026.
The Ministry of Forestry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service delivery through stronger accountability, defined responsibilities, and prompt decision-making across all divisions. This approach aims to foster a more effective functioning of the ministry and ensure continued support for the critical services it provides.
