The second round of the Football National Premier League has officially begun today, despite the absence of a newly confirmed major sponsor. The Fiji Football Association is currently seeking new sponsorship opportunities following the conclusion of its previous deal with Digicel.
Anushil Kumar, the General Manager of Operations at Fiji FA, has indicated that there are potential sponsors on the horizon. Although agreements are in progress, the association is in the process of finalizing the necessary paperwork before revealing the new sponsor.
This afternoon’s matches kick off with Tavua facing Nadi at Garvey Park at 3 pm. Tomorrow, football fans can look forward to an exciting lineup: Nadroga will face Navua at Lawaqa Park at 1 pm, while Nasinu meets Lautoka at the Uprising Ground at 3 pm. Additionally, Rewa will take on Labasa at Ratu Cakobau Park at the same time, and Suva will host Ba at the HFC Bank Stadium, also starting at 3 pm.
For those unable to attend, live commentary for the Navua versus Nadroga match will be available on Radio Fiji 2.
This weekend’s matches not only fuel the competitive spirit of local football but also highlight the platform available for both emerging talents and experienced players to shine. Despite the challenges of uncertain sponsorship, the unwavering dedication of the teams and their supporters demonstrates a resilient football community. As the season progresses, fans remain optimistic about thrilling matches and the revival of strong community engagement.
