The 2025 Inter District Championship (IDC) is set to take place at the newly renovated Govind Park in Ba, marking a significant return of this major football event to the town after a decade. Mohammed Yusuf, the Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Football Association, confirmed this development, highlighting the venue’s anticipated name change in the near future.

With exciting night fixtures planned for the tournament, the Fiji FA has made it clear that the installation of portable flood lights at the venue is essential. Yusuf stated that discussions with the Ba Town Council are underway to ensure this requirement is met, referencing similar lighting arrangements successfully implemented during the TISI Sangam tournament.

Moshim Khan, Special Administrator of the Ba Town Council, assured fans that they are prepared to accommodate the floodlight needs, promising that efforts will reflect the successful experience of previous events. This development is a source of pride for Ba supporters, many of whom have eagerly awaited the return of high-level football to their home ground.

The tournament will take place from October 7-12, 2025, and this year’s IDC is expected to be particularly thrilling as defending champions Labasa vie to retain their title against the backdrop of a passionate home crowd in Ba. With Govind Park undergoing extensive renovations to meet national-level competition standards, the atmosphere promises to be electrifying.

This return of the IDC to Ba not only revives local football spirit but also carries potential economic benefits for the region, attracting fans and visitors during the tournament week. Local stakeholders are hopeful that the event will further foster community engagement and support for the sport, strengthening the connection between fans and their teams.
