Akanisi Kotoisuva is among the many food vendors making a significant impact at the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s, which concludes today at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. Eager to support her family, Kotoisuva has been selling a variety of popular food items, including roti parcels, barbecue, watermelons, and bottled juices.
Speaking with Times Sport near the park entrance, Kotoisuva expressed her commitment to providing for her family through her entrepreneurial efforts. Originally from Komo Island in Lau, she has settled in Nadroga after marrying her husband from Draubuta, in the district of Noikoro. “We are happy that this event has helped elevate our livelihoods. Being part of the Coral Coast 7s allows us to fulfill the goals we’ve set as a family,” she said.
The financial success of her stall has been promising, as Kotoisuva reported approximately $300 in sales by the end of the first day. She was one of many vendors at the event, with an array of food choices available, and with the final day of the Coral Coast 7s underway, vendors anticipate even higher sales than in the previous days.
This influx of activity symbolizes not just a sporting event, but also an opportunity for local vendors to thrive and strengthen their economic circumstances, showcasing the festival’s role in uplifting communities. As the event draws to a close, the collective spirit of the vendors like Kotoisuva contributes to a vibrant atmosphere while significantly enhancing their livelihoods.
